Dr. Anthony Cere, PT, DPT, MSE, MTC graduated
from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University
in 2000 with a B.S. in Physical Therapy. He
earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (2006)
and Manual Therapy Certification (2004) from
the University of St. Augustine for Health
Sciences, as well as a Master of Science in
Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida
in 2011. Dr. Cere has worked as a physical
therapist in Gainesville, Florida since August
2000, primarily in outpatient orthopedics
before opening Kinetix Physical Therapy with
his wife in 2008. Dr. Cere is highly skilled
in evaluation and treatment of general orthopedic
dysfunctions for school-aged to geriatric
populations, but is especially recognized
for his knowledge and skill in spine-related
dysfunctions. He has taught numerous continuing
education courses sponsored by the Florida
Physical Therapy Association on spinal manipulation,
neck pain and back pain. From 2006 to 2010,
he also assisted with teaching the Musculoskeletal
Disorders course at the University Of Florida
Department Of Physical Therapy. Dr. Cere continues
to be involved with data collection for clinic
research and teaches various classes related
to orthopedics, manual therapy, physical therapy
private practice and reimbursement at the
University Of Florida Department Of Physical
Therapy. Outside his clinical work, Dr. Cere
is an active member of the American Physical
Therapy Association (Private Practice Section
member) and Florida Physical Therapy Association.
He has previously served on the Executive
Council of the Northern District for the Florida
Physical Therapy Association. Dr. Cere has
published work in the scientific journal Pain
regarding behavioral physical therapy interventions
for acute and sub-acute low back pain.

Dr. Melissa Cere, PT,
DPT
graduated
in 2002 with her Master of Physical Therapy
from the University of Florida. She earned
her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University
of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2008.
Dr. Cere has been employed as a physical therapist
in Gainesville, FL since 2002, developing
her skills in the areas of orthopedics, manual
therapy, TMJ, and women's health, before opening
Kinetix Physical Therapy in 2008 with her
husband. As the previous Chair of the Florida
Physical Therapy Northern District, Dr. Cere
is a strong advocate for developing professionalism,
education, and public awareness for the field
of physical therapy. She is also a member
of the American Physical Therapy Association
(Orthopedics Section member), having served
as a Florida Delegate to the American Physical
Therapy Association House of Delegates in
2007 and 2008. From 2007 to 2010, Dr. Cere
assisted with teaching the Musculoskeletal
Disorders course at the University Of Florida
Department Of Physical Therapy, including
the TMJ portion of the curriculum to entry-level
Doctor of Physical Therapy students. She continues
to teach various classes related to orthopedics,
manual therapy, physical therapy private practice,
professionalism and reimbursement at the University
Of Florida Department Of Physical Therapy
and occasionally assists with clinic research.
Dr. Cere has published work in the scientific

Dr.
Joey Barnas,
PT, DPT, MTC

Dr. Joey Barnas, PT, DPT, MTC graduated from
the University of Florida with a Bachelor
of Science in Exercise and Sport Science in
2002. He obtained his Doctor of Physical Therapy
in 2005 and his Manual Therapy Certification
in 2007 from the University of Saint Augustine
for Health Sciences. He is also a Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist credentialed
through the National Strength and Conditioning
Association. Dr. Barnas has practiced as a
Physical Therapist in both the outpatient
and acute care settings since January of 2006,
mostly in the Gainesville area. He has a tremendous
passion for the treatment and management of
orthopedic dysfunctions, and his specialized
training lends itself well to his special
interest in spine-related dysfunctions. Dr.
Barnas has demonstrated success in reaching
optimal patient outcomes by utilizing an enthusiastic,
compassionate, and functional approach to
the management of specific movement dysfunctions.
He also enjoys surfing, boating, exercise,
and doing anything outdoors.
Genné
DeHenau McDonald, PT, BCB-PMD

Genné DeHenau McDonald, PT, BCB-PMD
has been a physical therapist since 1989 and
devoted her career to developing women's health
and oncology rehabilitation programs, most
recently in Gainesville, FL. She also spent
two years as clinical faculty at the University
of Florida's Physical Therapy Department and
helped develop Cancer Rehabilitation Services
at Shands Davis Cancer Center. Her specialty
areas of PT practice include: treatment of
breast, ovarian and prostate cancer patients,
pelvic floor dysfunctions, male and female
urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic pain,
dyspareunia, lumbopelvic dysfunction as well
as pregnancy and post-partum rehab. She has
presented professionally at annual conferences
for the American Physical Therapy Association
(APTA) and at the National Multi Specialty
Meeting on Urinary Incontinence. She has authored
several publications for the APTA related
to women's health conditions, Assessing Musculoskeletal
Pain During Pregnancy in Primary Care Update
for OB/GYNS, and Rehabilitation After Breast
Cancer Surgery for Nautilus Magazine. In 2010,
she began teaching for the Hermann and Wallace
Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute. She is founder
and Program Leader of Team Survivor North
Florida, a non-profit organization offering
exercise opportunities to female cancer survivors
and was a consultant to the Mammatech Corporation
on a grant to perform better clinical breast
exams for women with disabilities. She is
a Team Leader and Regional Advocate as well
as an invited speaker for the Lance Armstrong
Foundation, and an expert panel member of
the LAF/YMCA Survivorship Collaborative. A
10-year breast cancer survivor, she was North
Central Florida American Cancer Societies
Reach To Recovery Trainer and was awarded
the state's Terese Lasser Award. She has received
many local awards for volunteerism but her
most cherished are the Yoplait Champion Award
for Commitment to the Breast Cancer Fight,
and Lifetime Television's Hero Award for Breast
Cancer Advocacy.
Christy Martin,
PT, MSPT

Christy Martin graduated from Florida Southern
College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology
and Psychology in 2006, where she was a member
of the varsity swim team. She obtained her
Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in
2010 from Florida Gulf Coast University. She
completed an APTA accredited sports residency
with the University of Florida and Shands
in 2011, where she worked with many collegiate
teams, including the Florida Gators football
team. Her areas of interest are sports-related
injuries (recreational to professional), injury
prevention, and emergency response. She has
previously coached swimming at the club, high
school, and collegiate levels. She is a member
of the American Physical Therapy Association
(Sports section and special interest group
on the shoulder and knee), and a member of
the Florida Physical Therapy Association.
She is also currently involved with research
in conjunction with the Physical Therapy department
at the University of Florida exploring upper
extremity functional testing. She is an APTA
credentialed clinical instructor. She enjoys
surfing, rock climbing, swimming, and running
in her spare time.

DPT

Dr. Jennifer Prugh, PT, DPT graduated in 2011
with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from
the University of Florida. She earned her
Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Valparaiso
University in 2007. Her areas of interest
are in orthopedics, manual therapy and sports-
related injuries. Dr. Prugh is actively involved
in data collection for clinic research in
conjunction with the University Of Florida
Department Of Physical Therapy. She is a member
of the American Physical Therapy Association,
including the Orthopedics and Sports Physical
Therapy sections, and is also a member of
the Florida Physical Therapy Association.
Jen enjoys spending time with her family and
friends as well as exercising, traveling and
playing soccer.

Susan is our business office assistant. She
shares our mission in offering a courteous,
friendly and caring atmosphere to all who
enter our door. She loves interacting with
our clients and the awesome staff at Kinetix!
Susan is a native of Florida and has lived
and worked in Gainesville since 1993. She
enjoys the beach, visiting with her daughters,
and being a part of her church family.

Katrina is our billing and collections coordinator.
She has been a part of our Kinetix team since
early 2009. With her outgoing personality
and friendly smile, she is always eager to
assist our patients and staff in any way she
can. Katrina finished her Associates of Science
degree at Santa Fe College in Business Administration
specializing in the Medical Office and is
currently working on her Bachelor of Science
degree in Healthcare Administration through
Saint Leo University. She also enjoys the
beach, going to the movies, and theme-park
hopping in Orlando.

Travis graduated from the University of Florida
with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology
and Kinesiology in 2011. Prior to graduating,
he completed a 3 month long internship here
at Kinetix. His dedication to customer service
and enthusiasm for physical therapy helps
improve the quality of care patients receive.
Travis is currently working towards his goal
of attending Physical Therapy School in 2012.
He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling,
and playing tennis and golf.
